So Much to Say

So little time to say it. I don't quite understand how I can be in a position where I'm my own boss, but don't seem to be able to find time to keep my blog up to date. I suppose one of the impacts of twitter is that my need to spout off in public is served, without any of that tedious mucking about with writing coherent, cogent sentences.

Anyway, enough excuses, this is just a quick catch up to distract me from the process of colour grading November Rain, which is proving a little tricky with some of the lighting. So what's been going on since the half marathon?

Short Film: Trickster

So I've finally got the film from the 48 Hour Film Project up onto youtube, check it out in the embed, or go watch it on youtube (where you can enjoy it in HD goodness) ...

Filming on the Edge of Reason

This weekend saw the London 48 Hour Film Project. When the wonderful Beth (producer on Out of Office and Sandwich Rap) invited me to join her team as a writer and editor, I leapt at the chance. So Friday afternoon I moved into Beth's house, and prepared to meet a whole bunch of new people and work non stop with them for 48 hours. I was nervous, I was excited, I was wishing I'd managed to get hold of some hard drugs to keep me going ...

A new short story

Last week, the results of the writers weekly spring competition was announced. Sadly, I failed to place, but I don't feel to sore about it. The winners were very deserving, and it's clear I didn't do enough to make my story stand out from the other entries.

But yesterday, I put up the story online, and you can read it here:

Dirty Secret

Second Episode Out

Bloody hell, it's been two weeks since I posted on here, which I guess shows how busy I've been. That or incredibly slack! Anyway, the reason I am posting is to point out that the second episode of Out of Office is out, The RealBondGirrl.

Here We Go Then

Tomorrow, the first episode of Out of Office will be released, 6 minutes of video that represent my first foray into the world of internet video. This is the biggest project I've undertaken as a writer, and it's exciting to finally be at the point where it can be shared with the wider world. To be honest though, it's also a bit terrifying, and I've already started and re-started this post a bunch of times, trying to work out what to say.

Out of Office: Coming April 2009

It's almost here. It's so almost here that we now have a logo, and a website, and a picture lock on episode one of the series. It's been quite a long haul to get to this point, but I can officially state that I am now excited. And also nervous, and worried, and having strange dreams about video file conversion!

Film struggles on

I've been working on a feature film script since the middle of January, and it has been quite a slog so far. Based off a short film I wrote last year, I got the outline together fairly well, but (with hindsight) should have spent more time playing around with it before embarking on the script itself. Having committed myself to writing it, I've kept at it with varying levels of day to day success.

short story republished

5 weeks ago, I wrote about the 24 Hour short story competition I entered, and linked to the story I had written. Rapidly advised that this could disqualify me, I withdrew it ...

... well, the results are now in and sadly I didn't place. I figure it's okay to publish my entry now:

'The Sins of the Father'

writing a short story in 24 Hours

A few weeks back I received an email from the lovely lara suggesting that I enter a 24 hour writing competition. A quarterly competition run by writer's weekly it sounded like a fun way of getting the juices going, so I signed up. As followers of my twitter account will know, the competition was this weekend, and I thought it might be interesting to reflect on it whilst it was still fresh in my head.
