Filming on the Edge of Reason

This weekend saw the London 48 Hour Film Project. When the wonderful Beth (producer on Out of Office and Sandwich Rap) invited me to join her team as a writer and editor, I leapt at the chance. So Friday afternoon I moved into Beth's house, and prepared to meet a whole bunch of new people and work non stop with them for 48 hours. I was nervous, I was excited, I was wishing I'd managed to get hold of some hard drugs to keep me going ...

Reviewing Let The Right One In

Yesterday I totally failed to actually review the film I saw on Saturday, as I distracted myself with a new tale of idiocy - the actual journey to the cinema. So I thought today I would go with a shorter piece where I actually talk about the film ...

Not Reviewing Let The Right One In

On Saturday, I found myself with a hangover, and an evening with no plans whatsoever. Determined not to let the day go to waste, but without any ability to concentrate on some work, I headed off for a run, listening to the Mark Kermode movie review podcast. On it, a brief but very positive mention is given to Let The Right One In. and it triggers vague memories of a cool looking trailer, and some other positive hype that I had heard.

Film struggles on

I've been working on a feature film script since the middle of January, and it has been quite a slog so far. Based off a short film I wrote last year, I got the outline together fairly well, but (with hindsight) should have spent more time playing around with it before embarking on the script itself. Having committed myself to writing it, I've kept at it with varying levels of day to day success.

Watchmen

One thing I forgot to mention about our trips to the Lakes was that I finally got the opportunity to read Watchmen, generally lauded as the finest graphic novel ever written. It's currently being made into a Hollywood movie by the director of 300 Zack Synder.
