Life in the Middle Lane

Postings have become slightly more sparse on the ground of late, which I would like to attribute to being massively busy and simply having no time. And whilst it's true that I have become busier, it would most certainly be a stretch to say that I've been so busy I've had no time. That said, we now have a full cast for the webseries project (now officially titled "Out of Office" - website coming soon-ish), and we are building toward full production. I have been working on some material to try and raise sponsorship/advertising for it, and we should be doing a full read through some time this week. I'm very happy with the cast, who are all brilliant - we had an audition last week where I had a great time watching them work with what I had written! I do still need to tweak some of the scripts, which this current posting is helping me to procrastinate over ...

The feature film that I was working on before Out of Office has now started to come back into my life. I am currently doing a screenwriting course at City Lit, and for this we need to bring in a pitch/outline of a feature. This seemed like a good opportunity for me to try and really nail ForeNight down, so over the weekend I worked on that. It was pretty interesting, as I realised that I had not actually fleshed out the overall story quite as much as I thought I had, so the exercise has proven to be extremely useful. I'm looking forward to getting some feedback on it later in the week when I take it in.

I have finally started helping out with the Choir With No Name, going t the rehearsal last week, which was great fun. Incidentally, they are looking for a rehearsal space for the month of November, so if anyone knows of a hall with some kitchen facilities in central London, please get in touch!

I have also been developing my camera and editing skills, which has been interesting. Both require a lot of work, but I am fortunate to have a lot of very generous friends who are willing to help and advise on these things. There's also the internet of course, which is very helpful for the more specific problems that can come up.

Sadly, I have not been doing so well at getting my running back into a regular routine. I am getting out there, but on average maybe only 1 or times a week, as opposed to the goal of 3 :-( Still, I keep on telling myself to get out there, and hopefully things will improve. Without the motivation of an upcoming race, it's harder to give a shit ;-)

And on a final note, Claire and I have a new flatmate, in the form of William the hamster. Tom & Alex have gone travelling for two months, and needed us to look after him. He's very cute, and (despite my earlier opposition to the idea) I think we will wind up getting our own after the guys return.
