Tomorrow morning, at some ungodly hour yet to be finalised, we set off for the Alps, on an epic drive that is set to take some 15 hours or so. With flights costing in the region of 600 quid (a combination of disorganisation and uncertainty prevented really super advanced booking, which is required for half term holidays), the car proved to be the only option available to us. It's going to be a long drive, but I am very excited to be getting back out onto the mountains. Especially after spending several hours today performing long overdue maintenance on the board, sharpening the edges, filling small gouges and then giving her fresh waxing.

All that remains now is to pack, and fetch the roofbox from Adam that he is generously letting us borrow for the trip, and then a really long drive. We're going to La Plagne, which is a part of the enormous Paradiski area which I've had the good fortune to ride in before. I am quite excited to be going riding after all of my efforts running over the past year as well, as I am sure this must be the fittest I have ever been whilst snowboarding.

I had set myself the goal of finishing the first draft of my screenplay this week, but that has proven completely impossible - I think even if my life hadn't been taken over by other demands, I would have fallen short. But nonetheless, I have managed to get well over halfway with it now, and am currently going through a phase of believing that it might (eventually) be quite good. Which isn't a bad place to leave it before going away ...
