Miscellaneous Thoughts

Various thoughts to mention, none of which are long enough or interesting enough to go on their own, but might just group together enough to justify it.

First off, I made the unusual decision to get the train up to my Mum’s this weekend. Normally, I’d jump in the car, but the M1 just sucks at the moment with the lane widening work, getting through London is always unpredictable, and I figured it wouldn’t actually make the journey longer. And tbh, even with the train being delayed, it definitely proved to be a pleasant journey.

Yesterday, I had a terrible journey travelling a mere 11 miles in an hour and a half in London rush hour. I got stuck in pretty much one spot for 25 mins, which I only escaped because people got out of their cars and directed people to clear a path. This led to quite a lot of tension, so that when I got to the roundabout at the end of the road, I was pretty cross with with all the people who seemed to be cutting me up and not letting me out. Shaking my head at people, I tried to pull out, only to get cut up some more. It turned out that I was so distracted by the terrible traffic, that I had forgotten to indicate. This didn’t stop from still arguing with the guy who pointed this out to me, shouting something along the lines of “If I wanted to go left, I would have gone ****** left wouldn’t I you ******* idiot!” One of those horrible moments when you know you are in the wrong, but are just so wound up by life that you can’t bring yourself to back down. Very rare for me, but I offer an unreserved apology to the guy who was on the receiving end.

Had a very pleasant walk in the woods today with Rebel, Mum and Mick’s retired greyhound. He’s a big softie, and a lot of fun to take out as he’s very inquisitive and bouncy, without being too crazy. Been very nice just chilling out with them.

Saw Abigail Burdess and the Space Clowns at the Etcetera last night. A great opportunity to catch both Damian Kell and Tom Price, who were performers in Stickmen many years back. The show itself was very funny, with some really great sketches.

And finally, I’d like to draw peoples’ attention to The Guild: Season 2, which started airing on Tuesday. The Guild website is at watchtheguild.com and you can catch the first episode directly over on msn video here. It’s a great show (if you’ve not seen it yet, I recommend checking out the first season as well as the new stuff), and was also an inspiration for me to write Out of Office, as it was the first video series I saw online that I really, really liked. And it made me think that it might not be a bad direction to take my writing.

Anyway, that’s about it I guess, I’m doing that weird thing where I am staying up for no reason other than it feels too early to go to bed. So I think I might do the adult thing, close my computer, and go to sleep. Honestly, I’m such a child …
