When most people complain about Labour, and how they are considering voting Conservative in the next election, they cite the Iraq War as a major problem they have with Labour. In case anyone is suffering from amnesia … the Tories voted for the bloody war too. And I guaran-fucking-tee that if a similar situation arose again today, they would still vote for the war.
The Conservatives are not an alternative to Labour. They are the same, but with less of a guilt complex about indulging rich people and screwing the poor.
Oh, and what the hell happened to Newsnight last night (which is what prompted this post)?! Seriously, they actually had a man in a suit trying to appear cool by interviewing a couple of welsh surfers as “representative” of the progressive voter. In spite of having (I kid you not) a mobile phone conference with a polling expert who pointed out that single demographics do not all follow the same voting pattern and thereby win or lose elections. Shoddy reporting doesn’t even cover it. Paxo was still good though
